We offer open enrollment August through mid-January for our Fall/Spring Season, and then mid-June through August for our Summer Season. The only time registration is closed is mid-January through the beginning of June while our classes prepare for our recital. You may register for our Summer Session at that time.
Friends of the same age, dancing at a beginning level (10 years and under), will most likely be able to enjoy class with their friend, as long as the class is not yet full. While we would love to accommodate everyone's requests and carpools, we place dancers according to age and ability, especially once they reach the Intermediate Level. Have a friend, cousin, or neighbor that would like to dance? Refer them and receive a $50 tuition credit on your account!
Parents are welcome to watch classes in Studio 2 or Studio 3 anytime from our Parent Observation Room or Lobby. We have designated Parent Observation Days throughout the year where parents are invited into the classroom to observe. Parents of new students may observe in classroom the first week of class if necessary. Out-of-town guests may request to visit at any time throughout the year.
Yes. All students are required to own either a TDS T-shirt (included with Registration Fee) or warm-up jacket. Dancers must wear their TDS T-shirt or warm-up jacket at all times they are in the building, unless they are in class. This allows identification by TDS and EF Body Works faculty for security purposes.
We request that students carefully observe our dress code outlined in the
. Items can be purchased through TranscenDance Studios.
Trial students should wear comfortable clothing that they can move in, and come with sneakers and socks.
Yes. Dancers will excel if they have the appropriate “equipment.” Shoes are a very important piece of a dancer’s success. See the
for shoe specifics prior to making a purchase. Students taking a trial class may wait until after registering to purchase required shoes.
TDS sells leotards, tights, dance shorts, and shoes. Items are tried on for size, and then ordered directly. This allows us to offer merchandise to our dancers for purchase below retail price. All items must be tried on prior to purchase, as we cannot make returns for incorrect sizing. Most of the time, merchandise is available for pick up at the studio by the following Sunday, or before class the next week.
Each family pays a $30 Registration Fee (one for the Fall/Spring Season, and one for the Summer Season). The Registration Fee includes a dress code T-shirt for each dancer.
Costume Fees vary from $60-$70 per class. It includes a high-quality, custom fitted recital costume that dancers can re-use for Halloween, parties, talent shows, and special events.
Tuition varies based on the length of the class and number of classes taken per week. We offer various discounts for multiple enrollments and paying in full. See the
Tuition Policies & Discounts
sheet for a price breakdown.
Depending on the tuition payment plan chosen: Monthly Auto-Debits will be charged the 5th of each month. Half-Session Plan payments are due the first day of classes (first half) and February 1 (second half). Annual Tuition Paid In Full (10% discount) is due the first day of classes. See the
Tuition Policies & Discounts
sheet for more information about our payment options.
Dancers are measured November-December, and specifically sized costumes are ordered over our holiday break in December. Many costume companies have a turn-around time of up to 16 weeks, as the costumes are made specially to our order. Dancers that register after our holiday break must accept the possibility that we may not be able to get a costume for them in time for the recital. We specifically call each vendor for each costume to confirm that we are able to receive one in time. Usually, our great vendors can make it work, but in the case there is a backorder, we notify the dancer and costume charges are removed from the account. If we are not able to get a costume for a dancer, the dancer is not able to participate in our recital. All efforts are made in order to allow all of our dancers to perform, even in the case of registration after our holiday break.
is the private log-in system that allows our families to view their account balance, make a payment, update account information, change their card on file for auto-debit, enroll for classes, and view their schedule. The Parent Portal log-in link can be found on the left side of our home page.
The Fall/Spring Season runs August-June. Students will be billed for all registered classes until appropriate notification of any change is given to the studio. For Monthly Auto-Debit accounts, any withdrawal from class or classes must be made at least 7 days prior to the first of the upcoming month. Parents must fill out a Withdrawal Form available during studio business hours at our reception desk. If a Withdrawal Form is not completed, accounts will continue to be charged monthly. Withdrawals may only be made in person through a Withdrawal Form. We cannot offer refunds for Half-Session or Paid In Full accounts. Refunds will only be given in the case of long-term injury accompanied by a doctor’s note, or moving out of state.
We cannot cancel costume orders after the studio goes on winter break. If you drop a class or decide not to participate in recital after a costume is ordered, you will be notified and may pick up the costume when it arrives.
If you know ahead of time that you will have to miss class, please let your instructor know in class the week before that you will be gone. You should also speak with our front desk so that they are aware that you will not be present.
In the case of student absence or one-time class cancellation, students are encouraged to make up canceled classes. Make ups can be made in any dance style and do not have to be the same style as the canceled class. Students should make up in the same level or within one level below or above their regular class. Prior experience in other styles should be considered when deciding on the appropriate make-up level for alternate styles. Make ups cannot be taken in any company rehearsal and will not be issued for any missed company rehearsals. Please notify reception prior to your make-up class. TDS does not issue refunds due to class cancellation or student absence.
ARRIVAL – All dancers must check in with the TDS desk staff before class.
Please be prompt.
We suggest that dancers 14 and older arrive 15 minutes early to warm themselves up and change. Please do not drop dancers off for extended periods of time before or after their class. We do not have the staffing to supervise young children outside of class.
LATE ARRIVAL – Any student arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted to class. For your safety and to receive full benefit from your class, please arrange for a make-up class if you expect to be very late. Chronic late arrival may be grounds for dismissal from class without a refund.
PICK UP – Parents of Pre and Beginning level students must come into the reception area to pick up their child if he/she is under the age of 10. Please do not allow young children to cross major streets in front of the studio or between parked cars to meet you; this creates a very dangerous situation.
Children cannot meet parents elsewhere in the host facility, unless they are members. Please read the Supervision Policy.
RESTROOM USE – Parents of Pre and Beginning level students are responsible for making sure their children use the restroom before class. If the need arises during class, one of the class assistants will take the child to the restroom. Intermediate and Advanced level dancers must use the restroom before or after class.
NO FOOD, BEVERAGES, OR GUM – Only water in studios please!
ALL CELL PHONES AND DEVICES – All cell phones and noise-making devices must be switched to silent when on premises. Ringing phones draw unwanted attention to your bags. Cell phones are not allowed out in the studios; please keep them in your purse or dance bag while in class. The checking of cell phones while in class is in session is allowed only in emergency situations. Such situations must be cleared by the instructor before class.
RESPECT – School age children and teens, please practice respect. Students are not to be socializing in a disruptive manner during the class. Please honor your teacher and fellow students by giving full attention and cooperation. Parents will be advised if we feel any student is not well-adjusted to the classroom environment for any reason over time. Also, please remember the studio and host facility are not a playground. There is absolutely no running or hanging on ballet barres or facility equipment.
TranscenDance Studios has competitive youth ensembles ("companies") that are for dancers interested in additional performance opportunities, taking their technique to the next level, and having lots of fun in a supportive team atmosphere. We have various company programs that support dancers of beginning through professional level ages 6-19. Acceptance into our company programs is by audition only. Auditions are usually held each September for the 12-month season. TDS companies perform at local school events, competitions, and many local events throughout the year. For additional information about our company programs, see our
